Classroom Management
Our classroom uses a clip chart to manage behaviors. Every student has a clothespin with his/her name on it. Everyone's pin starts each day on the green space, marked "Ready to Learn". Depending upon how each student behaves, their clip can be moved up or down the chart throughout the day.
As students make good choices throughout the day (aka have "paw"sitive behavior) they will move their clip up the chart. The higher their clip goes, the better the behavior they have shown that day. Any student that has clipped up so high that there isn't any more room to clip up, has become a role model. Role models get to move their clothes pin onto Ms. Fallon (they make a wonderful fashion accessory!) They also receive a trip directly to the prize box! Super stars go one step further. A super star clips off of Miss Fallon and onto the principal. They still receive the benefits of a role model plus accolades from our school's administration!
If a student was not displaying positive behavior, they will need to move their clip down the chart. If a student lands on blue, the "Think About It" space they will be given an opportunity to do just that and think about why they made that choice and how they can turn their day around. If a student clips down to purple there will be a consequence of some sort- owing some of their recess time, sitting out of the group for a while, playing a game by themselves instead of playing with a partner, etc. If they continue to make poor choices, their clip will move to the bottom of the chart and in addition to a previously listed consequence their parents will be notified.

Reading Raffle
At the end of each day, students will receive raffle tickets. The number of tickets they receive corresponds to the color they ended their day on (see the behavior chart above). The higher up on the chart they are, the more tickets they receive. Students write their names on their tickets and place them in the bag or bags of their choosing. Each bag corresponds to a specific book. On Friday of each week, a raffle ticket will be chosen from each bag and that person will win that book!
Tickets are awarded as follows:
Super star (off the chart AND on to the principal): 10 tickets!
Role Model (off the chart): 7 tickets
Red: 6 tickets
Orange: 5 tickets
Yellow: 4 tickets
Green: 3 tickets
Blue: 2 tickets
Purple: 1 ticket
Pink: 0 tickets
How many tickets will you try to earn this week?
